STRAWBERYY KIMONO PROJECTS

Lyuba can't help but either organize or get involved in various kimono-related projects.

Kimono de Jack UK, Founder

Lyuba is the founder of Kimono de Jack UK, an event for people who love kimono and want more reasons to wear it.

Kimono de Jack was originally started by 11 kimono enthusiasts from Kyoto, who were concerned that there were not enough occasions to wear kimono anymore. So in order to combat the problem, they decided to create their own event or Kimono de Jack. The first event was held on May 7, 2010 in Kyoto and was advertised by Twitter. Now the event is ran in every prefecture in Japan, as well as in the UK, the Netherlands and in some states in the USA.

Traveling Kimono Round 1 & 2, Co-Runner

She is a co-runner of two Traveling Kimono projects, which include 50-60 people each. The idea behind these projects is to take one kimono and send it around the world to different people, documenting its journey through photos. So far there are two rounds going because of the overwhelming popularity of the project, with participants from Japan, USA, and Europe.

In 2011 and 2013 she also ran a kimono photo shoot/dressing fundraiser for the APAH, raising almost $500 in one day. This year, in addition to dressing the models for the fashion show, she has also dressed the Japanese dancers.
